Was told last owner ran BBC and chrysler 4 speed,Dana 60 in rear with mono leafs moved in 4 inches. Frames tied,Perportion valve on frame, Floors are mint as are rockers.
Qtrs well as you can see they are flaired to fit the 33-15 tires on it. Doors are missing and it has a 2 piece front end. Car has ben in NY for a long time

There was no Pro stock in 1968.Pro stock started in Pomona at the opening race in 1970.1968 model year Camaros were allowed for the first year of the class then the rules required that the cars be 1969 or later body styles.During the 1970 season almost all the cars were stock chassis with 10 inch wide tires. In 1971 and early 72 the cars were basically the same, but some racers moved the springs in on their cars as well as the inner wheelhouses and ran the same 10 inch tires but lowered the cars.In late 1972 the tires got wider, and a handfull of racers had cars in the shop being converted to tube chassis cars for use with 14x32 tires.Thats odd that there are no hidden numbers on the car,I would look a little further. The way the car looks right now,it looks like it could have been built that way in the lat 70's as a gasser or modified, but that not to say that it couldnt have been run earlier in another configuration.Very few cars were back halfed in prostock, and the transtion from mini tubbed to full tube frame occured basically overnight as the rule allowed the car to be so light that a stock chassis could no longer work by about 1974 unless the car had a really big engine and was required to be heavy by the rulebook.Good luck with documenting your car.

BTW,here are some other things to look for on your car.In the early 70's most stock chassis cars, even ones that ran in the high 9's were only required to have a bolt in Lakewood style roll bar,but that changed soon after that,so look for holes in the floor for the roll bar to bolt to as well as flat spots on the rear frame rails under the rear seat area where some roll bars had clamps to bolt them down would cause flat spots on the frame. Many stick cars of that era copied the popular prostock tricks one trick was the welding of brackets from the firewall the to subframe to secure that area and assure proper action of the clutch linkage, but that practice fell off as full caged cars had front bars that secured the subframe.Early roll cages from that era often had the side bars mounted very high, and such bars fell out of favor in the late 70's,so if your bar is that old you may find spots where the old bars were removed. Most cars back then had Chromoly roll cages, and mild steel was used only for lower class sportsman cars.Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I will look for such clues. The cage is 8 point and was updated at C&F race cars in NY. Spoke with them today and The guy who had them change the cage Mini tubed it and flaired the rear fenders. Tail light panel is blanked out and nose was flat across grill area? Possibly to continue in 69? Who knows? We are sanding the car slowly and aside from His yellow it was yellow before that and orig Britt. Racing Green from factory. Prolly to far down the line to tell. We are going to put a big block back in it with a 4 speed and leave the quarters, tail and front panels alone... They just scream Nostalgia.... Can't wait to bounce that 4 gear around a bit...

Thanks again. and if any one runs across some old pics of it please keep me in mind..
