Ok call me crazy but I took a picture of my engine stamp today and once I had it on the computer I could swear that there is still some of the marking left on the head. I looked at it with the trouble light and it really looks like it might actually still be on the engine.

Did they actually write the engine code on the head or is this just wishful thinking on my part?

Yes, they did write the engine suffix on the head in that location. It's actually under the paint in crayon.

So I am crazy then.
You've gotta admit... it looks like it... and in person it looks even clearer.

With the crayon under the paint, as the paint wore off the painted over crayon is showing. I don't know why you think you are crazy. If it is a low mile original car there will probably be all sorts of tags etc. I had a 30,000 mile original Z four or five years ago and all the tags were still in place and the crayon markings could be seen everywhere.

I just hate it when everyone thinks that every little mark on a car is more proof of an SS etc. I have lot's paperwork, and therefore nothing to prove, but I really like the original paint markings etc. The original owner said that it saw one winter and was a fair weather garage car after that. I wish it didn't get the 80's repaint. Seems like the more I stare at her the more cool stuff I find. I post this hoping other enjoy this stuff as much as I do. My wife could care less. :thumbsup:

I blacked out my VIN etc. on a public forum but if anyone from CRG etc. wants these or any of these similar pictures I am happy to send them unedited via e-mail. I will put them all together and make a thread one day because there are lots of other little things too... such as an orange paint mark on the inside of the original rad just above the inside of the tag clip, little tags that wrap some of the wires, white spray on the cowl tag etc. etc.
