Just wondering if I should put any rtv on when replacing gasket? TH350

nope. use a couple of bolts to keep it on straight and put it on dry. if you must use something a quick spray of copper coat wil hold it in place. use a good gasket though.

I agree. Seems like anytime you need rtv you have a problem that hasn't been fixed right.

You should put a dab of rtv in each corner were the gaskets meet.

Either a dab of rtv or 3m adhesive just to hold the gasket to the pan!!

Thanks for the replies. I actually read the instructions that came with it and they said to put it in dry.

Did those instructions tell you to flatten the bolt holes before you put the pan up?

I used to put a light coat of grease on tranny pan gaskets that way they stay in place when installing and will come right off if you need to remove.

ive always used indian head while also straightening the pan holes to insure flatness.napa has the trans filter kit with the good gasket.wont use cork if at all possible.lol...

They do say check for flatness. This was not a cork gasket, it is a (holelock) design. The holes were slightly smaller so you can put the bolts in and they will stay, then you can put the pan up and they all stay with the pan. Works very well.
