I ordered a PS pump from Cardone for my BB 69. It is very close to the original but is different in 2 ways. The first is that the low pressure return line is on the back of the reservoir and not on the bottom. I should be able to re-route the hose to fit this easily. The second problem is the high pressure fitting in the back. I included 2 pic's to show both fittings. The one on the left is the fitting that came with the rebuilt unit. The one on the right is the correct fitting from Ricks Camaros.
Can I simply put the correct fitting into the PS pump and expect it to work correctly?

If you haven't bought the hoses yet, you can use the female fitting that came with the pump by matching a PS hose from an early 70's Nova.

The male fitting from Ricks is "correct" for a 69 - but the rebuilt pumps come with the female fitting.

Edelman 70270 - has male fittings on both ends. It also clears your 2457 headers.

You can hit NAPA and ask for a Weatherhead 1563 fitting which will allow you to use a factory '69 hose on a pump with female fitting. It is an inverted flare to SAE flare coupler. Bought my hose first so had to use one myself.

I bought a new power steering pump for my 69 Camaro. It came with the same female fitting as your picture. I took the female fitting out and put in the male fitting like your picture. I have not had any problems with the way the power steering works. I have only driven the car in and out of the garage, but the power steering works fine. Make sure you get all the air out of the pump and lines.

Thx for the suggestions and replies. I will try using the new fitting from Rick's. I already have the hose's bought and didnt realize I could reverse the male/female hose setup. Certainly would have been cheaper. Ricks got me for 34.95 for that little fitting.
As I was removing the original fitting from the pump I noticed it "popped" out on the last thread. I looked at the pump up close and there is a flat metal piece that must have a spring behind it that the pump fittings push against as they are screwed into the reservoir. This has me a little perplexed because the ends of the fittings have an opening and that will be blocked by this metal piece.
There are many trials and tribulations to converting over to a BB/4 speed from a small block/auto. I'm documenting everything with my digital camera and now have over 1500 pics, and I haven't started on the body yet.
