>This came off of my personal vehicle (standard base model with style trim group as FYI). Cowl tags from this year all have the "12437" code, but my personal car is designated as a "12337" (6-cyl) on the VIN (obviously the VIN stays on the car!). My car was built up as a Z-28 type clone, not SS, so the SS-designated trim tag is for sale. Just providing the full story for those interested!

He's in Scotts Valley, CA.

Skip...just as Broc said....

I hate seeing crap like this  so that is why I post it just in case someone down road is doing some research on a car they wish to buy.

Sorry, first post here (I'm the owner of the car/trim tag in the auction), but just letting everyone know that I had SEVERAL people e-mail me via the auction and after some thought (and scolding!) I decided to close the auction and will be reinstalling the tag on the car.

I had mixed feelings on the whole thing to be honest, but to me I was thinking although it was one of those "gray area" kinds of things, since it is technically legal to sell and reproduction tags in addition to originals are commonly sold, that it was o.k.

I must say in my years of selling on Ebay, primarily just music gear, I've never received so much of any angry responses from people from any listing I've ever done! Anyhow, I apologize for those who may be members here who were upset/offended.

I have a different perspective on all this now. And even though people will continue to sell various parts and make changes, etc. to these cars, I won't be contributing to it personally with my trim tag.

All the best,
David

Way to be a man, David. :hurray: Trim tags are pretty sensitive around here. Too many people switching them and buyers being burned by cars that aren't what they appear. Fake TT producers are regarded as scum-of-the-earth types here as well. Glad to hear you made what we consider the right choice on your tag.

X2........putting back is OK but it will always be suspect now when as some experts can tell if the rivets have been played with .....just so you are aware.

Thanks and definitely understood about the reinstall of the trim tag. My hope is to keep the car into my senior years (37 now) anyway and it's a very nice driver, but will never be a collector type. It started out life as a glacier blue 6 cylinder with no special options other than the style trim group. It's now a moderately pumped 302 (non DZ) with M20 4 speed and 12-bolt posi rear w/rallys and z/28 stripes. GREAT car, but just a fun driver. It will also soon be repainted to Lemans blue with white stripes - my dream color combo.
