My son just got a great deal on a 1989 Camaro, but it needs a few things. The overdrive does not work so we were going to change it out and we found a wrecked 1992 car with the tranny intact. Just need to know if they are interchangeable and if anyone knows where I can cross reference parts on the web so I don't to bother anyone?

Ask the yard to look into the Hollander book, book of exchangeable parts.
Personally, I don't see why it would be a problem.

Take pics of yours and compare them to the donor.

I assume you are talking about an automatic ?

If the cars have the same engine you should be ok, Check the Hollander to be sure !

The V-8 cars and the V-6 cars do NOT share the same bell housing bolt pattern.

Thanks for all the input, can the bell housing on the V-8 be changed, because yes the donor car is a v-6 and his is a V-8
