This may sound amusing to a few but I just don't know how to tell. My car runs good but I am looking to tweek it. My friend/ mechanic is going to come and adjust it. I want to do some homework beforehand. Ideas from this board are always on target.

My Edelbrock 600 needs to be adjusted. The car runs really rough and wants to stall for the first minute or two. Then as it warms up it becomes better until it is fine once warm. The choke is set when cold about 1" from the closed position. Should it be totally closed?
Thanks. Brian

I hope you can see?

Oh man!....Those first 2 pics are very blurred, sort of the way I will be seeing things in a couple hours along with a touch of double vision!.....But if they look anything like the 3rd pic then they look good and by good I mean normal tan color electrodes!

That was fast. It was tough to take the pics. There is not a good angle from any side. Thanks Ron. Is the choke supposed to be totally closed when cold?

You're Welcome!....No, not totally closed but opened ever so slightly so the engine will stay running without stalling!

Yes.How it unloads on initial fire and rolls open over time is vehicle specific.thats where the tuning comes in.

OK, I thought you meant if the choke is supposed to be totally closed when the engine is cold and running!.....Yes, it's supposed to snap all the way closed when you first hit the gas pedal!

I should have said it is an electric choke and it is definitly not fully closed weather I hit the gas or not. I will fix that next. Now I have the idea. Great, thanks guys. Stay tuned. Brian.
