View Full Version : Newbie with a burning question
rsbarb Jul 5th, 09, 07:58 AM Hi Everyone,
My husband and I are restoring my Camaro (finally). It's a 69 RS glacier blue with a factory painted dover white top. I have searched the web looking for another one but have been unsuccessful. We also go to as many car shows as we can and haven't located one out there either. Does anyone out there have a two tone car? It also has power disc brake, ac, power steering and deluxe houndstooth interior.

Hi Barbara, welcome to Team Camaro... Does the restoration mean you'll be hanging out with that mopar guy at Horses 2 Horsepower? ;) Congratulations on getting married. Click on the link in my signature, you'll recognize my Camaro...
Here's a picture of a 53-50 car, I believe there were 5909 total 2-tone's sold in '69.

Gary L Jul 5th, 09, 11:09 AM Welcome to TC Barbara. I have to say I like the 2-tone look.
rsbarb Jul 5th, 09, 12:56 PM Thanks Gary, As soon as I get it figured out I will post some pictures.
rsbarb Jul 5th, 09, 01:13 PM Hey Dennis- You are so funny.Yes, I'll be out there with that Mopar guy. Where did you get your info on how many two-tones were built? Here is a link to CRG that shows total production was 1% which would equate to less than 2500.

Where did you find that car? It's my car's twin.
rsbarb Jul 5th, 09, 01:17 PM Hi Mike,
I'm so excited about my car, apparently there aren't many left!!
Skeeter55 Jul 5th, 09, 04:30 PM Hey Congratulations on both the car and mariage... Awesome car i think i saw it at the Friend Ship Day...
PsyDoc Jul 5th, 09, 05:37 PM There was 53-50 car listed on Craig's List in the Atlanta, GA area toward the end of '08. The seller indicated that the it was a Florida car. I believe he wanted 22k for it. I think it had a 327, power steering, but no power brakes. I cannot recall if it was a column or console shift car.

One of the members here had posted the pic a while back and I remembered it... Here's a link to a CRG spread sheet http://www.camaros.org/pdf/options.pdf scroll to page 7 and look for "2-tone" and they report 5909 in '69... I'll see if someone from the CRG might know why the discrepancy. They don't make too many mistakes but maybe we cought them on one. If so, Kurt is good at making corrections...
I have Hot Aug Niles, Newark Days and H2HP on the calander, keep an eye out and come say hi...

67conv.cam Jul 6th, 09, 06:22 AM welcome to the team! look fwd to seeing the cars pics...i agree the two tone is cool...
rsbarb Jul 6th, 09, 06:51 AM Thanks for the info Dennis. We missed it!
Kurt S Jul 6th, 09, 10:30 AM Thanks for the heads up.
Yes, I just corrected that. The 5909 is the correct #. The other % was generated from the db which can be problematic with low production options.
We've seen 40 two-tones.
Mike has one of the rarer ones - blue on blue is uncommon. 51-53 or 53-51?
I just saw that 69 Firebirds were available in two-tone with any bottom color!
Thanks for the follow-up Kurt, I didn't want to speculate on the 1% being based on what's in the CRG db but thought that might have been the difference...
