: E-bay 69 Z looks nice what do you think
Mr. Super Sport Jul 5th, 09, 07:09 PM Hey all. Really thinking about buying this 69 Z-28 on e-bay. Do you guys think it's the real deal? Just wondering before I go look at the car. Thanks for any info.

ragtop69 Jul 5th, 09, 08:07 PM its a nice car. i think price to high tho.its a 4 owner car not a 75k car in my opinion.
Fred Mertz Jul 5th, 09, 09:40 PM Wrong color grille and incorrect stripes @ spoiler.
VI018DZ Jul 5th, 09, 09:43 PM Buy it now option 65K.
Reserve should be a little lower
Not bad if 62~63K would get it as its well documented.

RamAirDave Jul 5th, 09, 09:47 PM Tag is okay and lines with the VIN range. Can't comment on the stamp or paperwork.
RSSSfanatic Jul 5th, 09, 09:59 PM Very pretty car - I love Burgundy cars! I would want to get the opinion of some of the experts on the engine code stamp - the 6 in it looks strange to me. As mentioned, the purists around here would want to see the grille painted the correct Argent Silver.
What's up with the picture of the Mach I at the bottom of the listing? 2 for 1? :)
clill Jul 5th, 09, 10:11 PM For the same kind of money a orig owner had one at Vettefest last fall with red stripes. This car has too much wrong. Why was the grill replaced ? Was it wrecked ? Why no rear bumper guards ? Look like repo door panels. Is the booster spray painted ? Lots of black spray bomb under the hood. Upper control arm shafts are wrong.

Did that car sell?
griffi Jul 6th, 09, 06:46 AM Cowl hood non cowl air cleaner ?
ragtop69 Jul 6th, 09, 07:00 AM idon`t know orginal miles were turned back to 0 when car was painted a few years ago.owner then said he didn`t know why the guy did it,that it was done without his knowledge of.so milege is questionable.
Jonesy Jul 6th, 09, 07:29 AM Car was in Kansas or Missouri last year. Sold on Ebay in Dec 2008 for $39,600.
To me, thats in the range of what it's worth, not $65K..
Gas tank straps should be black and no rubber underneath.

Was asking $50,101 and then put it at $52,100 here.

In current auction, hasnt met reserve at $52K, should have taken it, IMO.

It should not have spoilers on it.
He does mention in the ad that the cowl hood and spoiler were added.
Overpriced a bit in todays market in my opinion. The underside definitely has that "used" look as well. Great car but just sayin for the $$...
tdb11 Jul 6th, 09, 10:53 AM I thought original tachs had no needle stop. I know my Z/28 has a 7K with no needle stop. OER replacement? Pretty car tho...
Mr. Super Sport Jul 6th, 09, 12:09 PM Thanks guys for all of the info. I really love the color combo. May need to get it inspected by Jerry M. The car as you say does need a few things corrected.

BelAirBob Jul 6th, 09, 12:12 PM I still think she's worth $50K as she sits. Its tough to find one with docs and a deck stamp that is(appears to be) real. Its also a rare color combo. How many burgundy Z's with owner history can be out there?
jl8dale Jul 6th, 09, 12:41 PM Great deal at 50K IMO!
BelAirBob Jul 6th, 09, 01:08 PM Agreed!:hurray:
Lexlas Jul 6th, 09, 02:49 PM For that amount of money i would start mines from scratch and built it with the parts i pick, but i can see why someone would not want to wait and go thru that.
jl8dale Jul 6th, 09, 02:55 PM If your starting from scratch and have a desirable and rare color, great documentation, and the complete original drive train, you would have had to buy your base car for about 10K - 15K to have it done for 50K.
1SLOW64 Jul 6th, 09, 04:24 PM What's up with the picture of the Mach I at the bottom of the listing? 2 for 1? :)
That must be the "R" code mach 1 that was being test driven by the 2nd owner;)
Frank0 Jul 6th, 09, 07:59 PM I saw a 67-ish Vette last weekend done in Marlboro Maroon similar to Burgundy. It was a a horrible color. Sort of a Reddish Grape mixed with some other undetermined pigment. I was sickened and enraged to see that beautiful car so subdued, defiled and castrated. Perhaps the worst abomination I've seen in my life.
But if you like Burgundy (with White stripes over Black?) that's cool.

The aforementioned comments are my opinion only and are not to be construed as a personal attack upon any forum members fondness for the color Burgundy or as diatribe against those with the ownership of vehicles painted in said color. :D

I feel bad about your statement about green cars , as I own of a Fathom green '69 z... I never bash anyone's car , even someone who owns a 70 ( at least that one of you cars is a G.M ). I bet your Ford is black.
No offense taken.
Frank0 Jul 7th, 09, 09:49 AM I always thought Fathom Green was a cool color. Very dark until you get close and see the sparkle.
Mr. Super Sport Jul 7th, 09, 10:32 AM Cars at $55,000. Too high a price for me after hearing and seeing some of the things wrong with the car. Guess i will just look for a project Z.
Thanks all for the input.

okiemark Jul 8th, 09, 08:01 AM Doug: You're gonna spend a ton of money on a "project Z". I'm not bothered by the inocorrect grill on this car. It doesn't mean the car was wrecked. These are 40 year old cars after all. Maybe it needed replaced and the owner didn't worry about putting the correct one back on. Even things like incorrrect stripes are minor i.m.o. when you're loooking at a matching numbers, well documented, rare color Z-28. All that stuff can be corrected. It's not like the guy is claiming it won Carlisle or Camaro Nationals, right?
jl8dale Jul 8th, 09, 08:15 AM Too many things wrong? This is a great car with minor things that vary from original that maybe the owner (or previous owners) just happen to like the way it is. Maybe someone liked the stripes the way they are. Maybe the black grill was more to his liking than silver. So get a can of Argent Silver and paint it.
I'm waist high into a similar car (Yellow/Yellow Z/28 with docs and all original drive train) and I can tell you I am way over $55K with no paint on the car yet!
If you can't afford it, that's understandable but dismissing it for "having too many things wrong with it" would be ridiculous.
BTW, no engine lift brackets either! Shame!

clill Jul 8th, 09, 08:56 AM What I am saying is the sellers description does not jive with his pics. He says orig interior yet I think I am looking at repo door panels. Are the seat covers also repo ? All Z's had rear bumper guards. Why were these taken off ? Burgundy is one of my favorite colors but I would need to see this car in person based on the stuff wrong versus the sellers description. He just might not know what a repo door panel looks like. What else does he not know ?
