"THIS IS A 1969 Z-28 CAMARO BLOCK. MOST 69 BLOCKS WERE 4 BOLT MAINBLOCKS. HOWEVER, GM DOCUMENTED THAT A SMALL NUMBER OF 2 BOLT BLOCKS WERE USED ALSO. THIS IS ONE OF THEM."
clill Jul 6th, 09, 04:22 PM LOL....run.......
3forme Jul 6th, 09, 05:29 PM No way.
BARRY A Jul 6th, 09, 06:02 PM the 386 block is a late 1968 - jan 1969,,, that date would be a 010 block NO WAY REAL
click Jul 6th, 09, 07:15 PM no way to know if most blocks were 2 or 4 bolt without tearing them all down. thats a flat out lie but on ebay it doesnt surprise me.
jmartorana Jul 6th, 09, 07:31 PM The first 302's (67 & 68) were 2 bolt small journal mains. 69 was the first year for a 4 bolt large journal.
buenymayor Jul 6th, 09, 09:46 PM He says right in the ad that it's been decked and all the numbers removed. He ought to know it's just another block, now. Be interesting to know what the original stamp was. I doubt it was DZ.
69z28freak Jul 7th, 09, 12:17 AM With no numbers this is a dime a dozen 2 bolt block. Nothing to discus here!

You are absolutely right Mike but my question was not about the numbers on the block but rather did they make 2 bolt main blocks that went into Z's?..From some of the comments it appears that was true for 67-68 blocks but not for 69...
rafbody Jul 7th, 09, 07:22 PM There were no 4 bolt main small blocks from the factory before the 1969 model year. All 67 (MO and MP) and 68 (MO) 302's were 2 bolt main and all DZ 302's were 4 bolt main.

I did. I haven't received a response.
.
For what it's worth 67 was the last year for the small journal SBC. 68 would have had a large journal block.

You are correct. And the 68 block was a 2 bolt.
Z282NV Jul 8th, 09, 04:25 PM Thanks to all for clarifying this for me..:beers:

Why is it that I think he does already
Probably doesn't care, specially if he can pawn it off on some poor newbie :pout:
Anyone who sells as much engine related 'Stuff' as he does probably should know what he has ...
Afterall, it's the ability to make up great stories about the $hit you're sellin' that makes eBain so great - isn't it :stirpot:

rad454 Jul 10th, 09, 08:12 AM A quick question re this subject. Can the deck of an engine be resurfaced without removing the serial #'s?
classic gary Jul 10th, 09, 08:59 AM it CAN be, but you'd better be standing over the machinist with a gun to his head.
