New to the site, but have had several first gens over the years. After a few old Mopars, I've come back to being a Camaro owner.

I just bought this on eBay...can't wait for it to get here (should be next week!)

You did very well if its in the same condition in person as it is in the pics. But of course, when you buy something on ebay sight unseen the jury is always out until you get it home and see it in person.

I think you did great....do you have plans to rip out the Six? or are you leaving it the way it was born? Looks like a nice car......might not need much to bring it to the next level...ya right....how many times have we eaten those words,LOL. Congrats and I am glad you came back to your senses (getting rid of the Mopars,LOL). Enjoy!!

LOL...not sure yet if this just isn't a shiny one!

Depends on the underside - floorboards, trunk, trunk drop offs, rear wheel wells, frame rails etc. If that is all rusted out then maybe not. Not one pic of any of that in the auction. Good Luck!

I think the e-bay add is sorta funny, it's a truck sales place and it says the "truck floors" are in good condition. It will be intresting to see what you get but I hope you did good. We read about so many ebay rip offs but there has to be honest people selling a Camaro or two on there. Post up lots of pics when you get her home!! :thumbsup:

The car is tentatively scheduled to be picked up Monday the 13th and delivered here Wednesday the 15th.

I'm hoping for the best, but am prepared for a few surprises...you just never know.

Nah...that's why I said I'm prepared for a few surprises. I don't expect it to be perfect by any means. :sad:

But I can't help but hope that I lucked out and it really is as nice as it looks! :hurray:

I hope it is better than the giant turd I bought sight unseen a couple of years ago. I did pay a good chunk more than you did but it had a new crate 350 and R4 transmission. When I saw it come off the truck I wanted to cry!! Looked great in the pics but I've got close to 13 grand or so in body work, paint, and new metal. I hope it turns out well for you.

Times sure have changed when a guy in Georgia is buying a car from Rhode Island. Used to be us Yankees going south to find the rust free older cars but the internet and reasonable shipping costs have changed all that. Last year I shipped an 87 Monte SS from NH to a buyer in Arkansas because he couldn't find any down there that were reasonably priced. Looks good in the pics but like the others have said, you'll know soon enough.

Haven't gotten it yet -- the transporter had to change the schedule due to the car he was taking up that way not being ready on time. :(

Now the plan is to pick it up between Saturday the 18th and Monday the 20th and deliver it soon thereafter. :hurray:

The suspense is killing me!

Guys, I gotta say...I got lucky.

The "little scrape" on the quarter is pretty bad, and revealed an old bondo repair, but I kind of expected that. There's some old bondo in the fender that is falling out from rust behind it, but there's no "little rust in passenger door" that the seller mentioned. I think he meant the fender spot.

Floors are perfect.
Trunk pan has surface rust only.
ZERO bubbles under the vinyl top.
Interior is mint, save for the typical warped and separated dash pad.
Car looks incredible from 20 feet.
Vinyl top is perfect.
Engine runs great, and the trans shifts fine.
Drives well down the road, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it has power steering!

In all, I'm thrilled. It was late when the car was delivered, so I didn't get too much time with it, and my camera battery died quickly.

I'll dive in with both feet and post up more later!

Hey not bad!! Remove those slotted what ever they are truck wheels and get those torque thrusts on it ASAP!! It will look like it 's worth 2K more with the new wheels!! Solid floors, trunk and other areas are a great find. You have to expect bondo in the areas you have mentioned.

The trunk looks like it could possibly be a drop-in pan. May want to drop the gas tank and see although you might be able to see without doing that. That's what I found in mine this weekend when my tank came out but they did a poor job....just glued it down and then sprayed the top with splatter paint. I seam-sealered it and put down Duplicolor truck bedliner.

It looks good regardless. Hopefully you won't find all the nasty booby traps like mine has in it.

Looks good....congrats on the great deal and yes, the Bondo is expected...the car is 40 years old for crying out loud....what we all seem to forget is that almost everyone who bought these cars back in 69', they used it as a daily driver or they raced them.....look at our daily drivers and all the parts we replace and dings and dents or fender benders over the years.

Congrats, not a bad price considering the car is in 1 piece.. Now get rid of that 6...lol.... Have fun.

Congrats! The last 69 camaro convertible i bought sight unseen from a 40 yr old female was just as described, as a matter of fact it was better than she described.

You lucked out! Ebay is always a gamble. I bought a 67 vert out of Iowa and have basically replaced every piece of sheetmetal rear of the doors. Lesson learned.....Nice find and hope you drive the heck out of it. :beers:Jeff

i think its great that your keeping it original. not many people keep the sixes anymore. theres a guy on here that fixed his straight six up pretty nicely. looks good for the money that you bought it for. like the new wheels also.

I seem to remember years ago reading about a 300hp build up on a straight six. Maybe it was in Car Craft.
