I have a be cool w/ dual 11" Spals & a pwm version 1. I was having trouble with the pwm's where they were acting funky. Fred W from Be cool was awesome. He replaced several of the brains until I got one that worked. Even three years later he stood behind a part they just distribute for Spal.He sent me the version three wit a host of upgrades. Thanks Fred. Before I had a chance to get the version three installed I wanted to take the car to a Camaro monthly meeting about 40 miles away. I called Spal tech to see if I could bypass the pwm and have the fans run b/c if I got stuck in traffic I was done. He told me to connect 12 v to the blue wire. I did this and also had to connect the gray to power so both fans were blowing. On the way home I smelled burning electrical wires. I pulled over and disconnected the fans and the pwm was roasted & i smelled like burning wires. Don't try this at home folks.
My question is:
It is a cool toy but there are so many wires to install the new pwm it is a major pain. Is it worth it or should I get something simple that will just turn on/off the fans at 180?? Thanks. Brian
