View Full Version : Need an engine decoded Tommy69Z Jul 8th, 09, 07:53 AM small block- V041016M C90156069 thanks Eric Kammerer Jul 8th, 09, 10:09 AM Check the stamp again. The partial VIN, if correct, is from a 79 Chevy truck built at the GM Truck Plant. The engine assembly stamp is likely V0410TxM, where x is another letter. I looked up TGM, and that might be it, but check the numbers/letters again. Tommy69Z Jul 8th, 09, 11:17 AM Check the stamp again. Eric Kammerer Jul 8th, 09, 11:21 AM TGM 1982 350 conv. van & bus L LS9 155 4 C-10 to 3500 The above is from a list that is fairly complete, but doesn't always list every application of the codes, particularly for the mid-70s up codes. If the partial VIN is correct, it is definitely from a 79 Chevy truck of some sort, and it is possible that the TGM code was used for the same engine in the 79 model year. If you have the block casting number and date, that may help confirm. Vintage 68 Jul 8th, 09, 11:41 AM There actually is a "T6M" suffix also ;) References a 1982 model year RPO-LS9 350/165hp installed in 1/2ton 4X4's. Still doesn't wash with the partial ... The only other suffixes I see ending in "M" for 1979 are; TBM = 350 TLM = 400 You may want to carefully recheck suffix if you really need to know the origin. Well, it is in a 69 camaro, just trying to see if it was the born with engine, apparently it is not. |
