rj68RS Jul 8th, 09, 09:10 PM I've been a lurker on this site for some time and figured now was the time to finally join up. I've had my 68 RS convertible for 16 years and it's spent the last 9 mostly in the garage only coming out 1-2 times per year to get stuff down from the rafters.
This was a non-number matching car when I got it so it was destined to be modified from day one in my hands. It is originally LeMans blue with white top, V8 4-speed, and 12 bolt posi. Last week my sons (16 & 14) and I yanked the motor and trans out. Sold them on Craigslist and now I'm doing cleanup while waiting for my new fire breathing 350 roller motor and TKO 5-speed to arrive. I previously rebuilt the front and rear suspension and rear end including PST bushings, Hotchkiss springs and sway bars, Bilstein shocks, and Wilwood disc brakes on both ends.
It's fun to drive and who cares about MPG as I get SPM (smiles per mile).

ChevyThunder Jul 8th, 09, 11:57 PM Sounds like it will be a perfect cruiser RJ with the new motor and trans. Love the color combo too.
I used to go to Al Burtoni/Milano Imports in Gilroy for years to work on some of my cars. I like that area a lot! Welcome to the site .
SPARKY69 Jul 9th, 09, 05:14 AM welcome to team camaro!!
Icemans_67 Jul 9th, 09, 08:39 AM Welcome a board from KY here, a great site full of all the information you will every need. How is the Garlic Capital of the World? Did some work at the power plant at Gilroy Food's in the 90's neat little town. What is the name of the restaurant on the Mountain Side with all the model airplanes? It maybe in Morgan Hill I don't remember for sure. Is it still open?
rj68RS Jul 9th, 09, 10:13 AM Thanks all for the welcomes.
I know Al (Burtoni) Burton well enough. My neighbor used to own the property next to Al's and we'd hear the Ferrari and Lambo engines revving as we were out shooting clays or having target practice. Nice enough guy with a home garage we'd all love to have.
The Flying Dutchman was the restaurant in Morgan Hill with the airplanes. Sadly it's been closed for several years and all the planes were sold off to mainly private collections.
Just curious, Any of the locals belong to the NorCal Camaro Limited club that meets at the Sunnyvale Chevy dealer ? Once the motors back in I was planning to show up at the monthly meeting and join the group.

zuma Jul 10th, 09, 07:42 AM Welcome RJ, from Pacifica. Look up DJD, I believe he is the President of the Nor Cal Camaro Limited Club...I believe he has the link to the club in his signature... Good Luck on the 68... Like Steve said, Pictures would be cool...
rj68RS Jul 10th, 09, 09:05 AM More pictures are at the link "The perfect daily driver" in my signature. Just to be clear this car isn't perfect in any way, shape, or form. It looks great driving by or from 10 feet away but up close I know where every flaw is. It will never be a show car as it's a driver meant to be enjoyed on the open road.

You sure that wasn't the sound of Al's wife , Henia , and her Lyon's in the backyard batting around that 335 Pirelli ? :)
