1. I am looking at my transmission, and wondering, where the heck does this "Camaro Vacuum Modulator Line" line go to!

DOES IT:

go to the carb?
go to the manifold?

ALSO, is it recommended to have one?

2. ALSO, what the heck is this!!
a vent or another vacuum!? [see below]:( Has it been cut? does it need to be replaced?

I cant see the pic Vic, my firewall at work. Anyway, The vaccum line will come from the vacuum modulator on the back of your tranny, its a black rubber hose that will connect to a steel tube/pipe. this tube/pipe will go up into the back the firewall/engine bay. Then a small black rubber tube will go onto the intake manifold vacuum line at the back of the manifold.

Forgot to ask. Do you have a stock tranny? Or a rebuilt performance tranny? I ask that because performance trannys usually dont have the vacuum modulaator line I think.

What is shown in he picture is the transmission case vent. It doesn't connect to anything, just vents the case to the atmosphere. Should be turned so that it is pointing down, not up.

Pic is vent turn it so it points down like Kyvox said. The modulator line hooks up on the rear of the trans. on the other side and to the intake manifold. It's best to have it.

If you have the TH350 The vacuum module will hook up to the rear port of the intake manifold in front of the dist. As others have said the other is the vent tube. Don't know why it's pinched off though.

I want to pick up a new vacuum modulator just to err on the side of caution....
I believe the TH350 in my Camaro is a 1974 from a something-or-other vehicle. It's had a shift improver installed and works fine.

Here's one from Advance:

And one from AutoZone:

I see John has the red stripe modulator on his. Will either of these work? Is the red stripe version adjustable? I'm not real worried if it is or not, just curious.

Just did mine yesterday on my TH-350. Bought the B&M modulator from Summitt.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-20234

It has the red stripe and is adjustable.

You may already know this but.. be prepared with the new one ready to go in when you pull the old one or you'll lose a good amount of fluid. Don't ask me how I know....

I didn't know that for sure.... now I know I'll definitely have the drain pan underneath.

I looked closer..... I think I'll stick with the $12 adjustable one from Advance.

Joe

If they're all adjustable, they're probably all the same. B&M just adds ten bucks for the name....

Also, just double check that the rubber o ring comes out with the old one.
