I have my original deck / trunk lid for my 69 Pace Car and I'm replacing it with a GM NOS lid. The original deck lid has two set of holes for the "Camaro" emblem. The one set of holes were taped off from the factory underneath the spoiler with a black tape that looks like Duck Tape. My question is should I drill those extra holes and tape them off on the NOS lid like the original. I'm doing a high quality and correct restoration, but I'm unsure about this and wanted some imput / opinions.

Yes, the tape is actually more of a wide black masking tape. That is what I used on my factory D80 (2 sets of emblem holes).

Kevin, My concern is really not the tape, but the fact do I really want the extra holes. My tape was wide also and measured approx. 5x4 and looked like Duct Tape. Its the same tape used on the floorboard for the subframe. What kind of tape did you use? You indicated a masking tape.

I would not drill the holes.

I used the black masking tape. Does you tape have fibers in it and a plastic type coating or is a crepe type?

The factory drilled the second set of holes if spoiler was ordered. If a dealer did it, they did not usually drill the holes. This whole thing was covered here :) http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=3752.0;all
