: Rolling Body on eBay - Comments Please
X33D80 Jul 12th, 09, 07:39 AM What are your comments about this '69 rolling body on eBay? Do the trim tag and rivets look okay? Burnished Brown is either loved or hated, but with an Ivory colored interior it might be okay.

3forme Jul 12th, 09, 08:54 AM I think it looks like its had a hard life, that body is beat up.
JeffD Jul 12th, 09, 09:10 AM The trim tag and the rivets look original to my eyes. It's a good pairing with the VIN too.
It's tough to say for sure, but on the passenger-side rear quarter panel, the section behind the wheel well looks to me like it's not the correct contour. In my opinion, the crease above the wheel well angles too far downward as it continues to the back of the car, as though the rear corner of the car was hit and not repaired correctly.
Take a look at the shut line on the trunk lid on the driver's side and compare it to the shut line on the passenger side. I think that's another clue.
rich pern Jul 12th, 09, 09:45 AM It always worries me when someone says how rust free a car is, but they prime it. That can cover a lot of things you cannot see in pictures.
Also, look at where the windshield meets the cowl at the corners, you cannot see the seam and should. Either a lot of old ws putty, or some work there.
All in all, it does look ok compaied to a lot of cars, but I think the price is at or even a little above what current market is at.

jcdubs Jul 12th, 09, 11:15 AM Well rust free it is not, look's like a lot of stuff going on to me. Tag looks good to me.
impzilla Jul 12th, 09, 11:25 AM I would not buy that car without putting my hands on it first.
Too much wrong in this auction.
1969ProStreetCamaro Jul 12th, 09, 11:29 AM I would hope that the future owner would repaint the car Burnished Brown.

Eric Kammerer Jul 12th, 09, 11:39 AM Not to mention the 67-68 seats (freshly recovered or not). And he says he pulled the OE subframe with DB to put on one with drums so he could get the car rolling; did he throw a manual drum master cylinder on too?? I guess I could possibly buy that someone had removed the DB setup from the OE sub, so a drum brake sub was used to get it rolling, but there is zero reason to hang the drum MC. Looks like another misrepresented base car with Style Trim to me.
And given the current market, I am surprised the car is bid as high as it is. Oh wait, looking at the high bidder info, no I am not.

^^^ X2 :yes:
If it's 'supposed' to be an SS you're getting - I see more than a few things that would tell me it isn't :noway:
The "super solid" floor pans also look like they've lead a very hard life ...
Very definitely a car that needs a personal look-see before dropping a hammer on the auction ;)
For future search;
VIN 124379N578676
Cowl;
69 12437 NOR233884
727 61 61
01B X11
Will be interesting to see what it shows up as in the future :D
As always JMHO's
cjm465 Jul 12th, 09, 06:39 PM I think we've seen worse but that thing looks like a train wreck. I would not bid on that without seeing it in person. Monoleafs also.
joels Jul 12th, 09, 06:45 PM It is only 3hrs from me, I would like to go look at it, but in the pics it looks to me like they are covering alot of stuff up. They sprayed everything even the door gaskets
RSSSfanatic Jul 13th, 09, 08:04 AM Yep, primer (especially the yellow or grey) does wonders to make a rusty or beat up car look better. I would rather see one left untouched, instead of being "dipped" in primer to "seal it up". ;)
I didn't look through his pictures, but it it does not have the drilled bosses for exhaust hangers on both rear wheel wells, then it is definitely NOT and SS car.
h-bomb Jul 13th, 09, 08:58 AM I'm only 20 minutes from that car, but with only 10 hours left on the auction there's no way I'd be able to look at it for anyone before it's over.
If it ends up re-listed again, I'd be happy to look at it if someone needs some help!
Eric Kammerer Jul 13th, 09, 11:16 AM Wow, what a surprise. The phantom high bidder disappeared.
