GasserOhio Jul 13th, 09, 05:37 AM Welcome, I spent a few years down there myself, part of 81 and most of 82 thru 84, they had a nice drag strip on the south west edge of the county, was Onslow county dragstrip, is it still there?
GasserOhio Jul 13th, 09, 03:56 PM Oh I forgot to mention my ideas for your help, I did something like this in an 84 IROC back in 90, bought one that just a roller, I put a mild 400 in there, ran a carb. One thing you have to do is drop the tank and take out the electric fuel pump if you are going to run a mechanical pump, which I did on mine. Everything else was fairly easy, I ran an HEI, put a hot wire to it, did away with all the fuel injection stuff and wires, I cut them off, taped them up and left it at that.

ZackGunns Jul 13th, 09, 10:25 PM hey thanks for you input man like i said im in the dark right now it wont even throw a spark ive checked the ignition module its good checked the coil its good i dont man its really starting to frustrate me escpecially with me being in the field weeks at a time i have barely any time to work on it and when i do its stupid stuff i should be prepairing for the swap instead of this crap. and yes the strip is here still i visit it frequently
Everett#2390 Jul 14th, 09, 04:02 AM Are you trying to get the TBI set-up to run first before switching to a carb?
Or have you already changed to a carb and trying to get it to run?
If TBI, the ign module sends its signal to the ECM and the ECm splits the signal. One for the injectors, the other to the dist for ignition. Dist is ECM controlled, you cannot run a ECm controlled dist for a carb set-up. The easiest route is to get a HEI dist and drop it in.
If carb'ed, same thing use a HEI dist and run a separate 12 AWG power supply wire, ign source.
ZackGunns Jul 14th, 09, 05:32 AM right now im trying to get the tbi to run like i said ive checked the ingnition module its good same with the coil still no spark testing the wires today and hoping its not the computer but like ive said im still pretty new to the mechanic field and any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks for the help everett
