I am back to looking for a correctly dated 4053 for my 69 Z. The 4053 on the car just flat runs terrible and I am sick of dealing with it. I got some really great help here on the site a year or two ago working out some of the issues but it is still not right. Today I swapped it out with a 600 double pumper from my Mustang and it was a night & day difference in the way the car ran. It would actually pin you in the seat to 7000 rpm.

I have tried the tank & kit route but it needs more attention to be right. I would just send my 4053 to Eric for the full treatment but it is dated way to early for my car so it obviously isn't original to the car so I just cant justify fixing it.

I found this on ebay but it is pretty pricey

Is this the going rate for a restored 4053? Is this thing even dated correct for my 08C car. I thought about just buying a new repo 4053 but after reading everyones thoughts about them I thought I would hold off for an original?

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance,
:beers:

I was thinking that 954 is too early for a 08C Z28. IMO., even though your block is stamped V0604DZ. Now I am not so sure. What are your other components dated? Is the 08C a typo? The seller says he trades carbs etc, maybe he would do a trade in price?
My own 06A Z28 has the original carb ( 100% for sure) and it is 952, my pad is V0527DZ. The ebay carb seems pricey, but looks correctly done.
Hope this helps.

There was a post a while back concerning the stamp date range of the carb compared the build date of the car. The range was kinda large as the carbs were coming from Holley and back then it wasn't JIT (just in time).

Can't remember the range tho.

Is the 08C a typo?

i would think a V0604DZ is a little early for a 08C car.

What is the csasting date of the block and heads?

What are the dates of some of the rest of the components?

Thanks guys, 08C is not a typo, it is the 302 it left the factory with. The partial vin is is down by the oil filter.

The casting date of the block is E 16 9 and I want to say the heads are E 28 9 or something like that, I have it all written down but cant seem to find it.

Any ideas what the going rate for a restored 4053 is? i about had a heart attack when I saw what he wants for the one I posted although it looks like a really nice piece.

Thanks Again,
