The floater rear ends are for circle track racing or Top Fuel. I don't think you need that.

Are you sure it's not nodular? Nodular iron is the material that the high performance cases are made of. It is a lot tougher than the standard grey iron. In your case it is nessasary. The standard case won't handle the power you are claiming. I recommend using someone else besides Mark Williams. The M/W cases have a problem with the pinion housing bolts pulling out of the case. I don't know why.

NEVER ENOUGH POWER,

A "floater" has floating rear axles. This means that the housing ends are set up for big hubs and cone bearings much like the front end of a four wheel drive truck. With this set up, the rear axles "float" in the housing. These are used in circle track cars so that the rear axle shafts don't have to support the weight of the car or take the high cornering loads they just have to drive the rear wheels. Much too heavy a setup for drag racing !! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

Strange Engineering makes comparable products at a fraction of the cost of Mark Williams prices...! I run a BBC that make a fair amount of power and torque and requested that the local speed shop order a third member assembly that could withstand my present setup as well as a 540 CID motor that I intend to build as the second part of my project. I paid 1,100 for a aluminum third member w/ gears and a posi that looks almost indestructable. Anyway there's my .02 worth
