I have a rear bumper on my '68 project, front bumper long-gone. It's my understanding it would cost much less to get a new one instead of having the rear bumper re-chromed. However, I've heard it's near impossible to get a repro'd bumper the same quality as the original. Can anyone steer me toward a good repro front/rear bumper. Also, did they make "delux" bumpers for '68?

I just replaced both the front and back and the fit on both was pretty well. I did have to wrestle with the bolts on the rear to get them all started and then slowly move around tightening slowly to bring the bumper into alignment, but overall the fit ended up good. I bought them form Firewheel classics, and they were made in Taiwan I think.

The newest versions from GoodMark (Legion and CHL) are pretty darned nice. I just installed a set on my personal 67. They bolted right up, and the chrome, while not "show" chrome, is at least as good or better than what the general originally did.

You are right Mark, to rechrome an original bumper is going to cost $250 and up.
