: Front Headlight Upgrade
Camaro1969 Jul 14th, 09, 02:27 PM I want to have my headlights for my 69 camaro to be the sealed headlight beam, with a removable bulb. Does anyone know where I can get the glass/plastic housing, and will fit a 69 camaro?
The $2.99 "projector" bulbs i bought from ebay dont fit because the back bevelled bulb housing doesnt fit through the 69 camaro headlight headlight housing that is mounting to the front nose piece/grille
Any suggestions, links will help!
ps: hoping not to spend like 150 from like fesler or DSE.
redfire69 Jul 15th, 09, 03:20 AM Summit has some cheap conversions. Not sure on the fit or if they are DOT. Can't go wrong with DSE/Fesler.

prostreet69camaro Jul 15th, 09, 05:16 AM I had this website booked marked for a long time. Dont know if it is still good but it tells what type to purchase. Then maybe do a search on google for the light to see what is out there. I bought a set about 5 years ago.

Blue 72 Jul 16th, 09, 11:00 AM I just got my headlights with h4 bulbs from classic industries they nice I also ordered the harness upgrade as well but thats on back order and I've been waiting for 3 weeks
Cyclopsracer Jul 16th, 09, 09:01 PM A lot of these do require the Headlight bucket carrier to be modified in order to fit.
I am going to go with the DSC headlights as well. Little expensive but you get what you pay for.

Everett#2390 Jul 17th, 09, 07:23 PM Might look into adding a relay for each bulb getting power from the horn relay buss bar verses getting voltage from the headlamp switch and back out to the light. Mad Electrical might have a schematic for it.
Camaro1969 Jul 17th, 09, 11:25 PM what i dont understand is, i have a AAW classic update, and no where on the schematic does it show to connect headlight OR horn to the relay!? does AAW not need a relay for the horn?
Everett#2390 Jul 18th, 09, 09:10 AM Its a separate circuit for headlamp power. Presently, power for the headlamps goes from battery to firewall to h/lamp switch and back out through firewall connector to headlamps.
Read battery voltage, then read headlamp voltage, you'll find about a 1.5-2.0 volt loss due to the route taken. If the lamp power is taken from the horn relay buss bar, two red wires connected to it, and use the present wiring for energizing the relays with power for the lamps taken from the h/relay buss bar, you gain voltage giving more light because the lamp has more power, 14 volts or whatever verses 11 volts.
You would be amazed as to the illumination gained. However, if you decide to change the present lamps, then I would do this first before looking into relay circuit. Work one change at a time.
