I just got back from the track and it looks like the RPM Airgap is holding it's own against the Victor Jr. I was having trouble getting a good bite because this was a TNT night and lots of ricers dragging water and poor rubber up on the line. Even at that, with slight wheel spin I was getting 1.54 60 foots with the new intake.
Tonights best was 7.18 @ 94.7 with 1.544 60'. The DA was near 2500.
My previous ET in similar air was 7.20 @ 94.93
The best ET ever has been 7.15 @ 95.54 with 1.545. This when the DA was 1200'.
I'm going to go out on a limb and predict 7.12 @ 95 with 1.535 60' when the air comes around. ;)

Sounds reasonable to me.
Have you noticed an improvement in low speed driving/throttle response?
Do you have a carb spacer on it? If not, there could be room for improvement there too.
Keep us informed

Did you run a spacer on the Vic Jr? on the Air Gap? A 1" open spacer on the Air Gap might help a little too.
Glad to hear the swap seems to have helped.
PS. Have you done any jet tuning? If I recall my Air Gap liked less jet than the Vic Jr. I had to richen the primary one size (2 numbers) for best ET when I switched to the Vic Jr.

way to go Garret. im hopin theres more ET in it than you prediction. its always been my understanding the duel plane intakes liked more CFM. do you still have the 950? please keep me posted. im about 6 weeks from getting to finally drive mine. Dave

I am running a 1" open spacer on the AirGap. I was previously running a 1" 4-hole on top of a 1" open on the Victor Jr.
I did in fact pull 2 jet sizes out at the track and am currently jetted at 71/71 on my HP 750. I'm going to go back to the 73/73's for the next outting because the air will be denser in 2 weeks.
The low speed drivability is much improved with the AirGap.
I also noticed that the engine now wants to be shifted at 5900 on the 1-2 but the same 6300-6500 on the 2-3. These are the RPM's that I react to. The actual completed shift points are certainly higher. The 1-2 happens very quick and If I wait until 6300 it's at 6800 before I can shift it.
The car certainly has more potential in it but will it go 7.0's with simple tuning......I doubt it.
P.S. I got rid of the HP 950.

Good going and please keep updating us as you learn more about it's tuning..

Are you running any type of A/F ratios? That would probably tell you more through the RPM range what is going on than just swapping intakes. I can understand better 60fts with the air gap vs. the Victor Jr. Jr. wasn't intended to be a good torquey intake down low as the air gap was. If your done making power at 6500, then the Air Gap will shine over Jr.

40 Coupe,
You can call them foolproof methods, but with the barometric pressure, weather, and track temp/condition, timing/jetting, it sure is tough to put a finger on anything due to all the variables that can come into play.
