Hey all,

I recently purchased an AGR 12:1 resto gearbox from YearOne ..
AGR part # 492117 I purchased a power steering coupler yesterday and thought 'Let's do this' ... hahah ... that quickly ended.
This is probably going to sound stupid ... but it appears there's no way that coupler fits onto that gearbox .. it's almost like i hv a manual steering coupler ... any ideas? the coupler is WAY too tight ... and i don't want to damage the teeth on the gearbox ... What's going on? Am i forgetting something or doing something wrong?

Up until 1977 all Saginaw power steering gear boxes had 13/16 diameter input shafts. After that time all of the input shafts were 3/4 diameter. I can't speak for the AGR gear boxes but it sounds as if your are trying to install a flexible coupling with a 3/4 flange onto a gear box with a 13/16 shaft.

There is one other possibility. Manual steering flexible couplings had a 3/4 flange with course 30 splines. The power gears (when they switched over to 3/4) had 36 splines. Those different flanges and shafts will not mix either.

Flexible couplings with 13/16 flanges are becoming harder and harder to find. You might try Tom Lee of Lee Manufacturing. 818-768-0371.
