I need help looking at a 68 camaro to buy but On title it has vin#124378n341308 but on the tag under the hood it has 11b 68-12437 nor 41522. is this correct and can you tell if this came as a 396 car or 350.On the title it has ss on it is that coorect.

There is nothing in the VIN or on the trimtag for a 68 that will tell you if it is a 396, 350 or a SS car.

However it has a few telltales that give a higher probabillity of what it could be.

VIN and info on the cowl tag are fine. They will not have the same info.
The cowl tag tells you what color it was and the interior color.

Also tells you when it was built (11B) 2nd week of Nov 67.

Bein's the original engine is apparently gone, next step is to check the trans & rear end numbers.....

Yeah, that SS on the title is strange right?

Some states would use that SS or even RS if it showed on the paperwork they had. A clerk might not have known better. It doesnt change anything legally. The number is important... the extra SS is just frosting.
