View Full Version : What does 30K get you today?

Unfortunately for me I ran into a bit of financial trouble about a year ago. Months later I sold my car (which I loved) and now have seller's remorse (if there is such a thing). Everytime I walk in the garage I get a sick feeling. I sold it for 30K but felt like it sold too low. It was what I believed to be a 68 SS396 Camaro four speed with no build sheet or POP.

Anyway, in the near future I want another Camaro (badly). Just following Ebay Lately, it seems that values are down overall and I was kind of wondering if anyone has insight on that trend? I'm probably looking to spend about what I got for my old one and really don't want to do a project. So I ask the question...what (generally) will 30k get Camaro guy?

There is a Z on Ebay for 39K, the guy says he will let it go for 35K. It is in San Diego. Might be worth a gander? Guy claims it is an x33 car

30k buys you a lot more now than it did a year ago.
You should be able to do a little better than what you sold for.

IMO, Stick with something numbres matching, even if it needs a little work. Pass the tags, paperwork and stamps past the experts here.

Couldn't agree more. Paperwork and numbers matching are the key to what a car is worth.

Thanks for the replies. I was kind of thinking the same thing. I have no idea on how to tell a real tag from a fake. I also don't know how to tell a fake engine pad stamp from an original. When the time comes I'll have to run everything by you guys.

With the amount of 1969 Z's always on Ebay I am especially nervous about buying a Z28 add my ignorance to the above and I might be a sucker. Don't get me wrong though, I'd love to have one.

Have you thought about calling the person that bought your car and see if they want to sell it back to you? You mentioned that you "loved" the car and at least you know the full history behind it.

It's also possible that the buyer has "buyer's remorse", financial issues, etc. and they may be thinking about selling.

You never know...

When I'm in position that will be an option. I'd like to have my old one back but I can't count on it so I have to have a back up plan. The market has changed so much and now with the new Camaro and Challenger out I thought it could have affected the old car market even more. So...just looking for input.
