1990 5.7L 1LE IROC-Z. Only 1 of 28 made, 1 of 3 in red, 1 of 1 with a leather interior. Seller was asking $75G. Price is now $55G.....You'll see this one fetch big bucks on B-J in 15 years. I'm not crazy about the red leather interior but this is one sweeeet car!!

1990 5.7L 1LE IROC-Z. Only 1 of 28 made, 1 of 3 in red, 1 of 1 with a leather interior.

62 1LE's in 1990 - 28 had the 350/auto and 34 had the 305/5 speed. The rarest 1LE is the '88, the first year, when only 4 were made.

with 7000 miles this is clean, but not really a $55k car. But hey its Ebay, stranger things have happened

But if you're really looking for a 1LE - they are out there - with the plastic still on the seats and less than 100 miles...

You are absolutley correct Tom! Here's another 1990 1LE with a 350 engine....This one has only 20 miles.:eek::eek::eek::eek: Yep just 20 miles. Seats wrapped in plastic, fully documented and a buy it now of $37G....IMHO this is priced right where it should be.....around $35G for a museum piece aka time capsule that. It's for sale at a GM Dealer in NC and who knows it may have never been titled which to a collector makes a car worth that much more....

Don't be surprised to see this car fetch BIG BIG, B-I-G money aka the 6 figures in 15-20 years...A 1990 1LE w/ a 350 and only 20 miles is the most desirable third gen of them all when it comes to collectibility, style & performance. This car was without a doubt the COPO Camaro of it's day.

I agree, this one is priced right and worth grabbing:D Wonder if the dealer owned it or someone got desperate and had to trade? (hope not!)

The one with only 20 miles (supposedly). Look at the alignment of the speedo numbers. Reminds me of when speedos were turned back years ago. And plastic can easily be put over the steering wheel and seats. I'm not accusing anybody of anything but that speedo doesn't look right to me. Just saying.............

For that kind of money (actually less) you could get a 1LE "Players Challenge" IROC.

http://www.playerschallengeseries.ca/Drivers_1987_East_pics.htm

Players Challenge cars (Camaros and Firebirds) were really cool raced 1LE's, I believe in Canada only?

$55K and NO T-tops????? :)

South Side Goons & Hitmen
Jul 29th, 09, 11:23 PM
Nope, no t-tops.... :p

Even a regular IROC-Z in 1990 without the 1LE package equipped with a 350 engine did not offer T-Tops..... 1989 was the last year you could get a 350 engine with T-tops on a regular IROC-Z. To the best of my knowledge I have never seen a 1LE with T-Tops from any of the 1988 - 1990 IROC's....1990 is the holy grail for 1LE's especially with the 350 engine....

On the car in this link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1LE-only-28-Made-Rare-Collectors-Find-only-20-miles_W0QQitemZ320404844732QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_C ars_Trucks?hash=item4a999df0bc&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245 I would have to look at the DOT number on the inside of the tire to see if it really has 20 miles and if the tires are original to the car.

I'm not crazy about the red interior but God I'd love to have that car!

I do really have a soft-spot for those gen 3 IROCs with the 5.7L engines. Love them in red. I won't need or pay for the LE version myself (these don't come with AC either as I understand so I'll take an AC and T-top version of the regular series), and someday hope to have one of these cars in my garage. My wife really prefers gen 4's (we've had an 02 SS anniversary convertible 6-speed), but those never quite grew on me, even though it was quite a performer.

4 Camaros and 2 Firebirds, 6 total, I have all the build sheets for them ....

Camaros:

black L98, was bought new by mike marsh in SF, bought from Stewart Chevrolet Colma, CA

I still remember his excited phone call telling me about this Camaro, I calmly said the 1LE? and he about s*it, how did I know? NO ONE knew ... :-) I knew ...

red LB9, delivered to Sutliff Chev in Harrisburg PA
black L98, delivered to Amity Chevrolet, Amityville NY
black L98, bought new by Delco Moraine, delivered through Frank Z Chevrolet, Dayton OH

Firebirds:
white TA LB9, Sidney Moncrief Pontiac Buick, Sherwood AR
black TA LB9, delivered to Willison Motor Co, New Lexington, OH

Actually the BEST year is the 89, no air bag, lighter than the later years and the 1st year for the dual cats = more hp

the 88's had the single cat still

Here is the 89 LB9 I had for a little while a couple of years ago:

Jul 31st, 09, 02:39 PM
yes, he had a nice stable of them, the 69 came from here in AZ, a couple of us had them (I had mine 1st, he outdid me by getting a 4 speed car ... with air)

Mike went nuts because the one he bought from my friend had the rear window defogger AND the power top, a double switch bezel ...

Me too... Buttt in 1987 a rich kid I knew had one of each. Never know if these were BS stories of kids but I remember him saying the convertible was extremely rare and the red car he had had a 5.7 tpi and a 5 speed. I always thought it was a 5.0

A couple of years ago, there was a guy here on TC that said he had an orig 12k mile 5.7 5spd. Said it was untouched, had the 5.7 sticker on the core support, codes, etc. In NC I believe, didn't hear much afterwards. Real... who knows?

There was also a local car here back then that was a 5.7 5spd. The guy's mom worked for a dealership/GM, don't remember exactly. Brand new IROC. You could look up at the T-tops and see them twist a bit as he went through the gears. Real... who knows? Sure seemed to be, but maybe there was some tweaking done to it?

all of those 5.7 5 speeds stories are bs

never happened, don't care if your mom pushed a broom at the Chevy dealer or the factory where they made them, never happened

there WAS ONE made for press review at the GM Proving Ground in Michigan, it was NOT a production car and it was disguised as a 305 (because it WAS a 305 car that they put a 350 in) ... :) it had the soon to be released 1LE suspension on it too ...

I think it was a copper / gold 87 hardtop (stripper, base seats, etc), the 1st year you could get a stick with the TPI engine

It also had the unmarked Goodyear "S" compound tires on it and it smoked all the other cars, INCLUDING the Corvettes on the autox course they had set up :)

I miss my 88 IROC. Took nearly everything I earned at 18 years old to make the payment, insurance and keep gas in it. Previous owner put 5.7 emblems on it. Most people didn't know any different. Sure was a chick magnet though!

Thanks, that's one I wish I would have kept. I actually think I found it sitting under a pole barn a couple of months ago - all covered in dust. I have been trying to catch someone at home to see if I could possibly by it back. Looks a little rough, could be bargain now.
