I'm going to upgrade my exhaust system and Ive been told that Summitt sells a Flowmaster complete kit for a 69 camaro. This kit comes with a H-pipe. What exactly does it do and is it better for street/strip or both?

Thanks,

What it does is balances the exhaust pulses, you gain horsepower with it.

In balancing the pulses, it increases exhaust scavenging. This helps to keep the exhaust moving throughpipe, and when that happens, there is a small vacuum effect at the exhaust port. This is a good situation because it helps to pull spent gases from the combustion chamber as the exhaust valve opens. There is a moderate HP increase by doing this, but the torque increases can be significant. It doesn't make sense not to use an H-pipe, cost is negligible, but gains are good.
