What is the Factory correct type of bolts, U-Bolts or T-Bolts, that should be used for attaching the Leaf Spring Perches on a 69 Convert with a 12 bolt rear. Obviously for T-bolts, the Spring Perches have to be welded on, and for U-Bolts, I guess they can be welded or not. Which brings up the bigger question, what are all the different Factory iterations and what is correct for using U-Bolts or T-Bolts, considering Mono or Multi Leaf Springs, welded or non-welded perches etc, etc.

I canned my "T"-bolts years ago b/c they are flat dangerous!
To hell w/ period correct and install at least one "U"-bolt per side.
Suckers are usually like a 1/2" so drill out your plates!
It ain't pretty when the "T"-bolts let go!!

PS., and now is the time to better weld your housing mounts and add what I want to say are front and rear so-called vertical plates between the mounts bends/uprights to re-enforce everything.
Mine's been done that way fine..

12 bolts got one u-bolt on the outboard side, T-bolts on the inside. Monos got all T-bolts (in 69 at least)

Right, my '67 mono 12-bolt was all "T"-bolts.
I want to say onna them twisted the "T" off when I removed them.....

And all perches (the bracket part on the axle housing itself) were and must be welded solid to the axle tube. The bolts keep the assembly secured to the mounts, but if the perches were not welded, the axle housing could rotate within the bolts/perches. Not cool.

The T bolts were 7/16", multi-leaf cars had one U bolt, two T bolts, best solution is to get circle track U bolts in 1/2" size and use two per side.
My 67 tore the RH mono mount right off the housing and the leaf spring fell on the ground. The tip off is oil leaking from the perch area indicating a crack in the housing tube.
