I'm trying to find some help in pricing a car (69 Z28) from just a quick look the hood is not proper(hood scoop rivited on). It has front disk brakes. the body has been painted two tone in the past.the body is all there and has no major damage that is obvious some rust (sits under a car port) the interior is there but could not see in there that well. The tags expired in 1987 so it has not been on the road much since then. I would gues the engine is prob toast and I'm not sure about the under side( the front end is on blocks). I'm gonna go sunday and see If i can take a good look at it.

Any help would be great thanks

First of all, welcome to the web site.

The best way for you to get people to chime in on values is to take pictures of the car in question. I also have to say that you should not volunteer too much information about the location of the car. If it is a true Z28 there may be people with less scruples than most who will jump on the chance to get it.

As far as the value of the car the biggest thing to determine is whether or not it is a true Z28. There are many identifiers to look for. Again, pictures posted to this site will be the most helpful. Get the information from the trim tag that is rivited to the firewall near the brake booster. How much rust does the car have? Condition of floor and trunk pans? How much of the original drivetrain is left? Does the owner have documentation such as a window sticker or protecto-plate?

I spoke to the man shortly some time ago and he told me he bought it new, He's an ederly man. I do need to see the trim tag and vin to see if it is a true Z28. I know there are codes in the two that make it a Z28. I just dont want to pay too much or take advantage of him ether. I think if it is a Z28 $3000 - $5000 could be fair. the weather here is not bad but things rust from temp. swings in the winter

if its a real 69 z with original 302 etc...3-5000 would be highway robbery!

Buddy, that sounds like a rip-off! I'm no car specialist, but I'd say an original Z28 goes for way more than a easy $10,000 (Or what I've seen at least).

To me a car is only worth what one is willing to pay and what one will take.I'm not looking to make a buck, just something to do with my free time.

Welcome Kevin,
Take a camera with you. Ask the fella if you can take pictures. Also, do some reading and learn about the 69Z. What to look for as far as confirming pedigree is what you need to know prior to going there.

Sounds like he may have hacked it up a bit if he has a hood scoop on it. No big deal though.

As far as prices go, your going to get a wide range with just the info you have posted today. So get those photos and post them, do some reading on Z28s.

Good luck.

what's fun about reading these threads is, we all know there are real Z-28s, big block S.Ss, and even COPOs still out there. I wonder what the average age was of someone who could afford a Z-28 in 1969? late 20's, early 30's?
that means an original owner would now be around 65 or 70. Those cars are gonna start being handed down or sold. I'll go out on a limb and say this car is an original one-owner Z-28.
