Just got my bumpers and hood ornaments back after 3 months from a
re-chroming. :D
Thought about hanging them in my bathroom to shave with in the morning....but my wife said:noway:
She just doesn't understand.

Do y'all mind if I ask what this typically costs? I know you can get 68 repro for about 100 each.

What did the back side turn out like? Does the chrome wrap-around nicely?
Most of my chrome shops here do a terrible job wrapping the chrome around the edge, and it looks like it will peel right off in a few years.

Don't see anthing that suggests wrapping problems, looks good to me, uniform around all the edges, but I'm no re-chroming expert.

I would imagine the prices vary depending on the quality and type of plating(basic or show) these were done as "show chrome" Copper, Nickel, Chrome plated and polished.
I forked over $320 each:eek:. It was a big decision but I'm glad I saved my coins for it.

YEOW!!!!
I thought the $120 each I paid for mine was high! They are perfect and original tho. I asked the guy,who I have been doing business with for 17 years, if he could do the backside too and he said no. I don't think the large wheels they use will reach into the backside of our narrow bumpers. It has to be polished first then chromed. My edges are nice. I'm gonna use a wire wheel on the backs of mine and paint them to preserve and cover.
As a side note: How do the repros compare to originals for metal thickness? I bought a repro bumper for a '65 Nova last year and it was waaay light.Thin. Looked good but wouldn't have held up in any kind of crash.

As a rule, the repos are lighter. Be careful bolting them on, so they don't twist. $300-ish is about the going number.....I had my rear bumper done about a year ago and I recall it was $330.
