I purchased a car a few months ago, the seller told me he had a title but now he said he cant find it. Problem is he never had the car put in his name so I don't know what I need to do. Anyone ever had to get a title for a car you purchased?

I once got a car from someone that had no title, the car had been unregistered for so long (5 years?) it "fell off" the computer at the DMV. I just had to get the proper form to fill out and it showed me as the original owner :) Of course this was in Cali.
Contact the local DMV, most states have a form that you get for transfer of title with lost pink slip, you might have to contact the guy he got it from or just forge the other guys signature, not that I condone that kind of thing :)
