Interested to hear opinions on the best wax to use. My car was painted base coat/clear coat in May. I am ready to put wax on it. I normally use Meguiars clear coat wax. Any thoughts?

Paste Wax with Carnuba will give you the best protection but I don't think 2 months is enough time on fresh paint to be polishing and waxing... Talk to your painter or paint supplier to get their recomendation on how long to wait.

Along those lines, do new cars come with the same reccomendation?

I do remember waxing cars back in the day almost immediately, of course, back then it was enamels and laquers. Were first gens painted with both or just enamels?

New cars are cooked. First gens were shot with lacquer, and reflowed.

Meguires #7 is a sealer that can go on fresh paint.

I'm waiting to get my '69 Camaro wet sanded before applying anything, but on my 05 Corvette, I only use Zaino. It's labor intensive, but it's beautiful when clean.

I think they should have a separate forum on Vehicle Detailing where people can post pics of their pride and joy after detailing, along with hints suggestions etc. I have used both the meguiars and Mothers and prefer the Mothers both contain pure carnauba wax which provides the hard shell protection to the paint but remember this is not a cleaner or swirl remover it is simply the final stage to protect your shine on the vehicle
