Gents
a question about Wax....this may be a dumb question ....but im going to ask it anyways.....if you wax your car and a week later you want to wax your car again, are you taking the old wax off with the new wax when you apply it or are you actually adding another layer of wax??
im using the Auto Glym products....they seem to work real nice.

thanks

You would be adding another layer of wax... Sometime its best to polish then wax instead of wax on wax, but it depends on what your using the car for.

thanks skeeter......but if i polish with a mechanical polisher?......i would be using polishing compound and that would take the wax off .....am i right? or are you talking about a hand rub polish you wipe on and buff?
i use the car for a summer driver and road trip car and car shows..used to race it too but......
just put a new paint job on it :)

Yes a hand polish then buff will help hide swirls or scratches and then wax... Don't wax it until you get some time on that new paint. I my self haven't wax my car and only hand polish it for that last 2yrs sense the new paint. I should put a coat of wax on it to protect it but its hardly outside.

You don't need to use a polishing compound to remove it if that's what you're attempting. A decent contration of Dawn and warm water will strip it off. A polishing compound actually kinda "sands" the paint so it's not good to do a car too many times with one.

I'm personally in love with Zaino products and we may take our relationship to the next level. They have an additive that you put in the polish that allows it to immediately cure so you can do multiple coats back to back.

I bought a black '01 Z28 that someone had washed with a carwash brush with dirt in it that was scratched everywhere. I took it to a "pro" who couldn't get everything out. I went behind him with a Dawn wash, Zaino PC Fusion, then Z5 with swirl filler, then Z2 and the car looked like glass. After the PC Fusion, I didn't need the filler but did it anyway. I was a convert after that. Best of all, it was all done fairly easily by hand.

I wax 2x a yr...when the weather starts warming up in spring
1 good wax, then leave for a week and some good warm sun weather
wax again....this gives good coverage

I used to wash , just water then dry off with towels out of the bathroom, for the rest of the yr, even if going to a show or used as a wedding car...
I now use megars car wash...most others tended to lift the wax layer off after several washes but magars used with their polish lasts all yr.

agree, I have been using Zaino for about 10 years.

All of my cars are base coat/clear coat I have never waxed them - always polish. :)
