I'm still a ways from being ready, but I'd like to start looking for a good shop in DFW to paint my project. Any recommendations?

Do you need paint, or sheetmetal replacement at this point?

I'm working on the sheetmetal replacement at the moment. I expect to complete in the next couple months although I might need help with the tail panel, it doesn't seem to fit right.. I was mainly asking about paint.

How far from DFW are you willing to go? I have a guy in Wichita Falls. My dad saw his work in person on a buddy's car here in Dallas and then went to check out more at the guys shop. The painter did paint on some seriously collectible cars. If you don't need someone THAT good, I have another option here in Dallas. Let us know about the sheetmetal.

I live near Decatur so Wichita Falls is not that far. I went to visit a painter today in Euless and was quite impressed. What do you have in mind on the sheetmetal? I'm open to options as I want to get this thing moving.

Check out Chris and Todd at Advantage Autoworks. They are involved in a LOT of resto and paint work. They are in North Richland Hills. They did some bodywork on my Camaro. They will most likely get any work I can't handle.

There is a shop in Pilot Point called Sanderson's Customs and Conversions. They do incredible work on some very high-end cars, and the quality is amazing. They did the strip, paint and a bit of minor rust repair on my car and I would recommend them highly. They are not cheap, but their shop rates are comparable to other shops I checked and their reputation is very good. They do everything by the book, so the amount of hours is likely to be higher than others, but the results will be worth it. They are also pretty quick. My car was done in nine weeks and would have been complete sooner, but they were doing several SEMA cars at the same time.

Dave,

The owner of Berry Motor Cars in Arlington referred me to:

Dr. Johns Collision Clinic (Arlington) or
Mid Cities Frame & Body (Hurst)

Haven't had any personal experience with either but Berry has some nice looking muscle cars sitting on his showroom floor.

Please keep us posted on what you decide.

I know of a excellent Paint and body shop in the DFW area. They do amazing things with sheetmetal work, fabrication, and panel replacement as well as Paint. They did mine and the finish was flawless, then again thats what i paid for. If you want a high end finish they can do that, if you want cheep, band-aid'd up. might wanna go somewhere else. Pm me if you like and i can give you the info, or if youd like to look at mine sometime, im the dfw area as well. Again id highly recommend shop i went with. I did almost a years worth of research before i decided to go with a shop, and like you i replaced all of the sheetmetal myself.

A guy I know had his 67 get sideswiped and took it to Dr John's Collision Clinic. They requartered the car and re-did lots of paint where it was starting to look rough and added Z stripes. They did a decent job with the quarter, it looks good and straight from the outside but it's obvious that it's been done looking in the trunk. The paint however looked great, and a year later it's held up fine.
