I am going to install a new antenna on the right front fender of my 68 Camaro. The antenna was originally on the right rear. I repainted it roughly two years ago, and filled the hole in hopes of using an invisable antenna.(which do not seem to work) I now need information on how or where the antenna cable runs inside the car to connect to the radio. I really would appreciate any information. Thanks alot,
Dale

Thanks Larry,
I ordered a template that positions the antenna where it should be. I need to know where the cable enters into the interior of the car. Is it through the door jamb or the firewall.?

The cable will go through the Upper door jamb--just above and to the right of the power window wiring hole or dimple (if your car doesn't have power windows). I attached a pic of each situation. See pics... *** If your car originally had a rear-mounted antenna, you may just have a dimple punched where this front-mount antenna cable hole should be...

Thanks alot, I was mainly concerened how the cable was routed to the inside area of the car. I thought about installing a CD player but I didnt want to cut my dash. I guess I will reinstall the antenna and listen to the radio.

They do sell RF-controlled cd changers that you can easily mount in the trunk, under the seat, etc... that you don't have to cut the dash for. It runs through the antenna lead then into your radio and uses your speakers. Really easy install. 12+, ground wire, and a remote ignition lead--that's it for wiring. Then plug in the antenna interface and bolt it in place where you want it.

One word....IPOD..... CD changers are obsolete. IPod ready stereos are cheap.

True, but do they offer I-pod ready radios that are dual shaft sized and not half DIN (that require you to hack the dash up)? Not sure....

Crutchfield will have that info for you most likely. They are awesome for info and help with this type of stuff. go to http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Specials/Default.aspx?c=3

I am going to look at the changer and the Ipod suggestions.I didnt know you can simply plug the CD changer into the antenna connection and play it through the existing radio. Is there a radio made that has the factory look ( knobs) that supports the Ipod? I have heard that it is hard to find a radio that has a CD quality sound from an Ipod. I do not want to install an antenna back on the car.

You should be able to find a dual-shaft radio that has IPOD capabilities I'm sure. Do a google search...

As far as ipods sound... in my opinion, there is nothing better than a CD. These new IPODS, ZUNES, and MP3 players are convenient yes, but they all digitize and crisp-up the music way too much for my taste. I am a purist and enjoy the best possible tunes I can listen to. Remember the Sony Mini Disc? Yuck!

I looked at the radio on the Crutchfield site and I think it will be the way to go. I can hook up anthing I want to with this unit. They say that it will fit any vehicle and comes with a face plate that gives it the factory look. Thanks alot,
Dale

no problemo...

Be sure to check if the shafts are adjustable to fit your dash first. Sometimes they aren't and only fit the newer and wider dual shaft dashes. Just to make 100% sure before ordering. They have a toll -free tech line I believe.

I watched the video on the Crutchfield site, and you can put the knobs or shafts in any arrangement, including side by side on the same side of the radio. It offers Ipod and multi CD changer accesories hook ups, and you can hook up two amps if you want.

Sounds like a winner...

I still think the best solution is a stock stereo in the dash, and a good, full din stereo mounted in the glove box with a remote and an IR transmitter.
