I have a repro mirror on the door of my '67. It is brand new but refuses to hold up and keeps rotating down to rest on the door. Is there any way to keep it from doing this?

Others have dimpled the socket area with a punch. Probably the OER mirror. Mine did that. I tried dimpling the socket area with a punch but screwed it up. I'm waiting for Ecklers (been waiting for 3 months) to get a shipment of their higher quality side mirrors in. captcanuck68 Aug 4th, 09, 05:04 AM Bill, there's been a few write ups on this very issue re. these side mirrors...do a search with "side mirror fix", and it should give ya some past info, OK? capt Dave69Z Aug 4th, 09, 07:30 AM You can put a little loctite on t he ball and adjust it. IF you bang it you'll have to redo it. But it helps. IDS_Bill Aug 5th, 09, 10:42 AM I ordered one of the US made ones from Rick's. We'll see how it does..... 69 z11 Aug 5th, 09, 02:49 PM Just replaced both of mine, the new ones are nice and tight, hope they stay that way. 68sixspeed Aug 5th, 09, 05:22 PM I seem to have to change mine every 5-6 years, maybe it's a combo of the bad repro's and a little bit of vibration, just seems to loosen them up. DaytonaYellow69ss396 Aug 7th, 09, 06:15 PM My Factory original just messed up by falling last weekend. I'm going to have to replace it im guessing. Z282NV Aug 7th, 09, 07:08 PM Has anyone used the ones from Heartbeat City? I think they ones manufactured from the same GM tooling, USA made repro's as well as the cheaper repro's? http://store.heartbeatcity.net/store/search.asp | |
