On m 69 the molding around the back glass came off today while washing the car. There are 2 side pieces a top piece and of course a bottom piece.
There is a lip on every piece that seems to go up under from what it looks like the molding clips.

the driversside curved piece has come off and seems to be a PIA to get back on.

Any suggestions on how this goes on the best ?

If the molding came off that easily you most likely need new clips. If the glass was not installed sloppily new clips should be easy to install. Hopefully all the mounting studs are in place; if not the glass has to come out.

When I was drying the car off it grabbed on to the stainless just a little and pulled it up just enough. When trying to push it back down the whole piece came off.

There is about maybe a QTR of an inch between the glass and the body. All of the molding clips as you call them are there. Is this a Two person process putting the molding on or back on ? And is there a special tool needed to install this molding or just a simple push down process?

Don't mind me asking what is this Window Mounting Stud look like do any of yall have a picture of this by any chance ?

Thank You

If all the clips are there so are the clip mounting studs. It's a one man/child job. Really, it's that easy. But if the mounting points on the molding are played and/or the clips are not tight against the window frame then the moldings will not stay. They should go on with a crisp "snap".

You may have to use the trim tool to pull out the clip just enough to 'catch the lip' of the molding.

Trim stud looks like a #14 nailhead. Check the condition of the clip itself. If its rusty, needs replacement and kind of a pita to change with the window in, but can be done with the tongue between the back molars.

Check the molding itself, the lip underneath should be smooth and without divots from its previous life. If present, they will need to be smoothed out and can be done with common hand tools. Place the molding in place, bottom first as it fits inside the bottom molding, align with clips and use palm to snap into place.
