Please forgive my lack of knowledge but is it welded on and how does the hanger connect it?

Dual exhaust (NF2, N10, N62): Dual exhaust was an option for any V8 and was standard on all SS, COPO, and Z's. On 68 coupes, rivnuts were used on the driver's side frame rail (just behind the rear tire) to attach the dual exhaust hanger. On 69 coupes, a reinforcement (doubler) plate was added to the rear frame rail in the same area.

I am sure if you search the forum here you will find a better pic than this. I have seen one that shows a closeupof the actual hanger but can't seem to find it now.

Rickscamaros.com sells them

And notice how its tacked on there. If you put on the plate make sure you just hit it with a spot weld following the pattern of one of those pictured.
