In 1969 could a Camaro SS 350 be ordered without a tachometer and guages?

Yes. RPO U17 was the special instrumentation package, tach plus console gauges. Part way into the 69 model year, the tach only (with center fuel gauge) became available as RPO U16.

Thanks Eric, I have owned a SS 350 for seven years and always thought it odd that an SS would not have a tach. The trim tag has a Special Paint instructions code and the original color is Champagne, so I guess it is a little unusal. I was cruising Woodward Ave. last night, thinking about it and decided to ask to Pros.

Yes a 69 SS350 could be ordered without Tach or gauges.

It would have a speedo and gas guage and idiot lights.

That's the way they came unless you specifically ordered both the optional console (D55) and gauge package (U17).
