so after months of tracking down a vibration, thinking it was driveline angles and such... i had a repair shop put the car up on jacks.... and ran it... (i wouldn't do this)
the driveshaft had a noticible blur as soon as it got to the vibration speed.. but only at the differential yoke end... not at the trans end..
to temporarily solve it, we put 2 hoseclamps on the shaft, (to counterbalance) and with some trial and error, the vibration is gone.
we then put a dial indicator on to find out that the yoke is swinging the driveshaft, .022 to one side , so its run out is .011 off. i can't imagine that the pinion gear is causing this, but it very well might be.
this is a new one to me... but i need to know if I can simply remove the old yoke and install a new one (measure it) and go, or (as I am almost positive) that the whole rear need to come out and preload set with a new crush sleeve?
the rear end is the original 12bolt (1969 Camaro)
thanks
Aaron
