Hi Joni, I just bought a set from Competition Engineering, but I haven't gotten around to installing them yet. I bought the bolt-on ones, although I do plan to weld them in. I was told by more than one person, that even if you plan to weld them in, the bolt-on ones have a much better fit, and easier installation than the weld-in ones.

John 69ss I used comp engineering subframe connectors on my 68 convertible. They do not fit because the convertible has extra crossmembers built into the floor they required modifying. Necessary to notch them out to clear the frame after they were welded and reinforced worked out ok. I also bolted them from each side at the rear subframe mount by the transmission. hope this helps Garry.

If you have access to a welder, 3x2 retangular stock (.090" or thicker wall) and square stock with ID the same width as the frame then you can make through the floor connectors yourself. CarlC has a good description of how to make them and good photos as well on his web site. Through the floor connectors are the way to go but are very time consuming to install. He and I used my car as the prototype so I know that his site has good info.

I just added bolt ons to my 69 SS. The car handles totally different, almost uncontrolable on roads with dips. Has anyone experienced reduced handling capabilities after installing sub frame connectors?

Heres a threard that discusses the different major brands.

Of the other threads Ive looked at and a lot of people liked the Hotchkis. They dont need the floor to be cut to install like DSE and fit a little closer to the floor so they arent as noticeable.

I have a set of Global West, which are very nice and I hear Hotchkis makes a nice set especially for convertibles.

My guess is that your frame was not lined up correctly when you installed the SFC's... The car should have the body weight on all 4 wheels during installation.

i want to put a set of hotchkis on my convertible, ? is do you have to preload the car by jacking up the center? I know car needs to be on all 4 wheels on installation.

All so want to put caltracs on at same time, or should i wait and see how car reacts?

your thoughts would be appreciated

I did have the car on all fours when installing. Thanks for the reply though. BTW: What's a troll?

I have no idea what the problem could be. Check the condition of your body bushings, and torque the body mount bolts, measure to make sure the subframe is still in the car straight and square, check to make sure the spring perches (brackets that hold the front end of the rear springs in place) are tight to the body and that all 3 bolts are torqued, and check all the bushings and everything in the front and rear suspension for wear.
My best guess is that something is loose.

Oh, and welcome to the forum, we are glad to have you here.
Why drag up an 8 year old thread, feel free to start a new one next time, I don't think camaros.net pays by the thread.

We have the Hotchkis convertible and couple subframe connectors in stock and have free shipping right now

Kindda like a hacker. Somebody who jumps onto a board with a bogus question or problem so as to get-off watching people trying to deal with a non existant problem that can't be solved.
How's that for a definition!? I just whipped it up off the top of my head.:D
I'm gonna check the dictionary now.

Jim, Welcome aboard.
I too, have no idea what Fred is talking about. All the questions I read on here I deem legit and have no clue who would post something otherwise.
Unfortunatly I dont have an answer to your problem, but there are great people on here that should.
