This leak has aggravated me for a long time. I have taken the speedo housing out SEVERAL times and cleaned, de-greased and sealed it back up and I've even replaced the seal and gear when I swapped rear end gears and it has always had a slow drip. I moved the car today and found a puddle underneath. I HATE LEAKS!

I took off the tailshaft, took out the rear seal and bushing and cleaned it spotless. I installed a new bushing and seal because I saw a drop of oil here too. I'm ordering a new seal and speedo gear and I hope this fixes it.

And yes I lubed the seal and speedo shaft before I installed them. Do yall have any tips for me so this leak doesn't happen again?

See the tip of the shaft where the seal rides.

Hey Patrick!!!

That sucks having oil leaks as you know its a big pain in the but... Just make sure that your not running to much oil in the trans.. I think that the new seals should fix the problem..

Replace that O ring and it might do it.

Jeff

Yes, there are different speedo housings. Make sure you have the correct offset housing for your driven gear tooth count.

My housing is for a 40-45 tooth gear. Mine is a 45 so it should be correct. I just ordered a new seal and gear. I will keep yall posted to see if it stops the leak.

Has anyone else ever had this to leak like mine? Were you able to get it to stop?
