If the holes are to large for the standard bolt to hold the tack bar at the rear of the car has any one found a correct oversize bolt or used a riv-nut ? welding at this point not an option.

I'm looking into riv-nuts now but they require making the holes even larger, This has to be a common problem, hopefully someone has figured it out and is willing to share.... Good luck 68camaroconvert Aug 20th, 09, 03:28 PM I have the same problem welding is not an option my car is completely done. I am looking for the bolt in oversize thread with the correct head and OD washer. 67 455 Bird ragtop Aug 24th, 09, 07:10 AM I have the same issue on my 'Bird. But since I currently have no floor pan and it's on a rotisserie my fix will probaly be easy. I plan to drill out the old holes and weld in t-nuts, or atleast that's what I think they are called. The are usually used in wood aplpications. They have a flange with little spurs that normally dig into the wood to home them in place. I'll cut/grind these off then weld them in the holes. I used these previously to repair my lower fender cage nuts. Worked pretty well. Do a google search in the images area for t-nuts. You'll see what I'm talking about. Hope this helps. Or at least gives someone an idea for an alternative plan. |
