I just put a set of shorties on my SUV. They were ordered as Summit brand but had Flow Tech stamped on them when they arrived. As far as cheap headers, they fit well. Don't know how the full length ones are. Seems like everyone has some fitting issues with all brands of full length.

I ran the full length on a 355 in a 78 nova . Perfect fit keep the bolts tight and no leaks 2 years running 12.55 through them.i noticed a ton of low end torque when i made the swap. i think i paid 74 bucks new with a lifetime warranty.

From what I remember, they won't work on a car with a manual transmission.

i run the full`s, 1 5/8 they fit really good on my old humps only slight mods, now i`ve got a set of angle plug twisted wedge heads, didnt take much to get them to fit, but cant change plugs with out remving the headers,
in a year wiht about 1500 miles 1 colleter gasket, but i do have a small leak some place in them that i cant find but can hear.
for the price there well worth it, i`d buy them again, there coating is krap though
i odtn see why they would not fit on a 4spd, the left header hangs a bit lower, looks like it would clear

Joe - are these the ones they call "afterburner"? If so they have a scavaging chamber and are susposed to make good lower end torque like a tri-y header... My friend has a set on his 400ci SBC in a suburban and he's happy with them on his truck engine...

I put a set on a 70 Monte with a small block- they fit well enough but they hang way too low. I've looked at Montes with Hookers and Heddmans and they didn't hang nearly as low.
Just recently I installed a set of Summit shorty headers, made by Flow Tech according to the Summit guy, on a 302 powered 92 Bronco. They fit in well, but the drivers side flange isn't welded on at the same angle as the exhaust pipe and there was a 1/4" gap on one side. A die-grinder took care of it easily enough though.

Had two sets on 69 camaro, both developed leaks at the collector. Not the gasket, the actual welds that combine the four pipes within the collector. They had to be replaced due to the fact that they could not be re-welded unless they were disassembled.
Converted to Hooker super comp powder coats and had no problems since

I posted previously about the poor quality and fit of the Flowtech shorties in my '69 Camaro-I am warning all of you to stay away from them!! The shorties are more expensive than the Heddmans-have smaller primary pipes (1.5") and collectors (2.5") and exhibit the worst craftsmanship I have ever witnessed on a header. Even for the cheapie headers that I have seen-these headers take it to an all time low.. I purchased mine new and they hit the steering box, the passenger side holes on the flange were not drilled properly requiring lots of rework, and the welds look like they were done by a teenager in a third world country.. Take my advise-STAY AWAY FROM THE FLOWTECH SHORTIES!!! Buy the Heddmans-better price, quality, fit, finish, and reputation!!!

I was looking at the flow tech Try-Ys which I think are similar to the ones that DjD was talking about. Ive read about how they help scavenge exhaust gas and was wondering if they work. They seem to be close in price to some of the well known brands, which might I add get a lot of bad reviews too.

i have a set of the afterburners as they are called, and am not overly impressed. i had a set of headmans on the car, but changed over. While i did notice a little difference, there was not enough to warrent the change. The sound is not quite as deep as with the long tube headers. The flanges that mount to the head are not flush either. they weld on the side that mounts to the head. Poor design, dont seal. If I were you, I would buy a set of the dynomax powdercoated headers out of jegs, that are $209, and call it a day. I have heard of many people having success with these and being coated they look much better. Hope this helps.
