: Marquez billet taillights for 69
tgifford5 Aug 20th, 09, 09:21 AM I have a 69 RS that I will be doing body and paint this winter. I have seen the Marquez taillights and have thought about switching to them. Just wondering from you guys that have them. Do you have any issue with the aluminum spotting from rain or maybe not getting them completely dry or anything?
DjD Aug 20th, 09, 10:00 AM I haven't had any water spotting issues with mine, they are fairly easy to clean and like everything else just clean them up don't let the dirt, or spots sit for weeks...
On another note buy and fit them before paint and during body work like anything else you are installing on the car for the first time.

I had a little issue with fitment at corner radius that needed to be filled

DjD Aug 20th, 09, 09:29 PM The problem I had was the lenses fit in the openings but as I tightened the bolts holding them together with the lamp housings the bolts drew them to one side slightly and caused cracked and chipped paint. Original housings were the cause, ever so slightly warped over the years.
It's always good to trial fit and adjust before paint and nobody take this wrong but looking at Dave's and Dayton's pictures, the outer edge radius' of the tail lights doesn't match the cut outs for the tail lights perfectly. Mine don't either, I've never seen a car they do if the tail panel openings were not worked over a bit. Certainly doesn't detract from a nice car, it really stood out more on a white tail panel...
Musclerodz Aug 20th, 09, 09:47 PM They are both nice pieces. If you are doing paint and body definitely fit them before paint. The aftermarket tail panels need some help in a corner or two to get a perfect fit. I have also found new tail panels to not always have the opening fully square and will not allow the light to go in and can cause the paint to chip if you have to bend the lip to make room for the bezel.
DougP Aug 21st, 09, 04:47 AM No issues whatsoever with the Marquez stuff - love 'em

69RS/Z28 Aug 21st, 09, 05:46 AM Those look nice - I bought repro's from Rick's and had some of the same fitment issues. It doesn't look like there is a "perfect" fit, so if you like them I would go for them...I'm considering them myself now...
ChevyThunder Aug 21st, 09, 11:12 AM I would consider Mike's .

tones2SS Aug 21st, 09, 03:00 PM CHEVYTHUNDER = Love your car. Looks very clean!!:beers: (We need some big high res pics of that bad boy!)
From what I've heard from people that own the Marquez, they love them. Fesler makes some killer quality stuff as well. There is also Digitails.com

Vegas69 Aug 21st, 09, 09:55 PM Tail lights are one area where I like the originals better. The non 3d after market lenses do nothing for me.

Do you like the 3-D.
