My console gas gauge used to wrok, not its pegged to FULL all the time. Is there a diagnostic procedure some has that can help me determine if the problem is in the float or the sender or somewhere else??
Thanks for the advise.

you most likely have an open circuit from the tank to the gauge. the tan wire is your conection from the back of the gauge to the sending unit in the tank. If this connection is bad (open), gas gauge pegs past full. Check harness in trunk where sending unit wire comes through trunk pan near latch mechanism in-between the two lamp enclosures. This is a double connector---one goes to the sending unit (tan wire) the other wire goes down to the license plate lamp (forget color). If you have an ohm meter, check continuity from trunk tan wire to the back of the fuel gauge.
Common area for corrosion, broken wire, etc. g
Good luck!
