The driver's side weatherstrip on the rear quarter window (front edge of the window glass that seals between the rear window and the driver's window) is beginning to tear.

Can this weatherstrip be replaced WITHOUT removing from the glass window, the chrome piece that it inserts into?

This appears to be the original piece of weatherstrip that I am replacing. The glass window is NOT removed from the car.

Suggestions on how to proceed.

Yes you can replace the rubber strip. First remove the U jam rubber. Then you will see a small screw at the very bottom fo the"chrome" piece. Remove this screw , grab the bottom of the weather strip and pull down. It slides right out.

And to help the new piece slide right back in, I use a little white lithium grease :)

Thanks! We will give it a tug.

I just replaced mine last weekend -- a little squirt of WD40 in the chrome channel that the new seal slides into makes it easy!

I use dish soap....rinses off with no residue.

Yes -- take the screw out, tug downward a little and use the straw on the WD40 can to squirt some in behind the rubber inside the channel. Makes it slide right out, and lubes the track up for installing the new one (put a little on the new one, too.)
