Anyone use one of harbor freight spot welder's on the restoration? Looking to get any input on if it's worth the 150.00. I will be replacing a lot of sheetmatal on my 69 resto I will be starting soon. Was woundering it worked out for you. Thanks Robert

I have one. Would not recommend it. Not enough power,and not enough clamping pressure. You are better off doing plug welds imho.

I used it where I could. Some people say use it after plug welding to give a pinch weld look. I absolutly loved it for my drip rails and trunk gutters. I also used to to attach my roof(except the leaded seam, that was welded solid), trunk gutters, rear window/quarter channel, front edge of the door jamb, bottom of the tail panel and quarter panels. Everything else i plug welded. I would probably have used it to reskin my doors if I had it then.

6000 amps of power,and fully digital. Its more than a Harbor Freight model,but much more powerful.

The problem with the spot welder is it can only be used in a few spots for our work. I sold mine and put the money toward more sheetmetal.
