Canfield heads posts some pretty stout flow figures on their website (small block heads), and there is a note saying that the results are reflective of some "mild bowl work". Does this mean that YOU need to do this work, or is it already done for you? The Canfield tech guy is hard to get a hold of.
Any opinions on these heads are appreciated also. I'm looking at the 215cc heads.

Which head are you looking at? I went to the Canfield web site and saw a 195cc and a 220cc but no 215.
The flow numbers looked very similar to the AFR numbers but the heads are $129 more expensive not to mention what you will have to pay for the bowl work to get the flow they are advertising. Can you get those heads cheaper elsewhere? If not I sure would be inclined to go with the AFR that are fully CNC ported out of the box and you know exactly what flow you will get. JMHO though.

If you get the heads from Canfield their more expensive.
I bought mine from competition products and either them or canfield already ran a grinder under the valve seat. So can say that from comp products they already come bowl blended, i'm just not sure if canfield or CP did it ? Also the heads were $1055 from CP and $1300 from canfield. I asked Canfield about this and they said they don't compete with the companies that sell their product.
Hope all that bable helps

Definately helps, thanks. That's a great deal on the heads.

Howard's Cams can sell me the 215cc heads with CNC chambers (not listed on the Canfield website, but call and ask), and assembled with the solid roller springs that I want for $1100 shipped.
So, compare that to $1500 for the AFR 210cc, I'd say that's a deal! That leaves me with $400 extra, and I can do the cleanup myself.
Basically, the extra $400 is allowing me to put a solid roller into my budget. So, I guess I'm probably better off with Canfields 215cc with a solid roller than the AFR 210cc and a solid flat tappet.

If that $400 allows the cam upgrade, then theres no question. The solid roller will be worth the minor downside to the heads (if its really even there, debatable...)

do you have flow numbers from the heads? What chambers do they come in?

I don't have the exact numbers, but the "mildly bowl-blended" 215cc Canfields are extremely close (+/- 2CFM or so) to the AFR 210cc heads (which actually measure 215cc). If I remember right, the exhaust flows just a tad better on the Canfields, while the intake is the same. Chambers are CNC machined just like the AFRs.
John at Canfield is hard to get a hold of. I'd like to find out what a "mild bowl blend" is.

Mild bowl blend is blending the bowl about an 1" down from the seat
